2. Ethics & Reporting Guidelines

Protections & Privacy: Studies involving human participants must confirm approval from an appropriate institutional review board (IRB), identify the body, and provide numbers. Authors must verify informed consent was obtained from participants or Proxies. Waiver events require justification. Patient names, medical numbers, or identifiable visuals are never published without written consent.

Reporting Guidelines: Manuscripts must follow global standards: CONSORT (Trials), PRISMA (Reviews), STROBE (Observational), CARE (Case Reports), STARD (Diagnostic Accuracy), COREQ/SRQR (Qualitative), and ARRIVE (Animal Models).

Originality & Misconduct Barriers

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under active consideration elsewhere. BJHS strictly rejects any submissions involving text plagiarism, result fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate image manipulation, or citation manipulation. All incoming files undergo automatic algorithmic similarity screening.

Artificial Intelligence Restrictions

Generative artificial intelligence tools must not be listed as credited authors. AI-assisted tools must not be used to fabricate datasets, generate false citations, or alter research findings. Where AI has been utilized for language editing, translation, or data coding, authors must transparently disclose the nature of its use inside the manuscript text.

Standardized Funding & Conflict Statements

Funding Statement Template: "This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors."

Conflict of Interest Template: "The authors declare that they have no competing interests."

Technical Assets Vetting (References, Tables & Images)
Vancouver References: Number sources consecutively in order of text appearance. Include persistent DOIs. Do not inflate citation metrics.
Editable Tables: Provide precise titles for each consecutively numbered table. Tables must remain fully text-editable Word elements; screenshots are rejected.
Figure Integrity: Images must meet publication resolution. Edits (contrast, brightness) are only valid if they preserve raw data accuracy.

INR 0 (No Review Fee)
APC: INR 0 (Zero APC Cost)
Post-Publication Integrity Responsibility

Accepted texts undergo production loops to generate galley proofs. Major changes to the manuscript at the proof stage require additional editorial review. Review pathways are driven strictly under Platinum CC BY 4.0 Open Access distribution arrangements.

* Notice: Authors must notify the office immediately if errors or data omissions are flagged post-launch. BJHS coordinates corrections or retractions strictly in line with COPE integrity benchmarks.
